Initial Project Brainstorm Overview
When our group submitted the original project interest form, we all knew we were interested in doing something with Timea Tihanyi and their artwork. Our original brainstorm included ideas that focused on this, as well as a few ideas that were unrelated, but we ultimately felt that our ideas related to Tihanyi’s ceramic work were more compelling. After speaking with John Akers regarding the vision that Tihanyi has for potential project ideas, we came to a few potential paths that we could take for our capstone. Our three most promising ideas were as follows:
- An interactive art gallery where users can educate themselves on Tihanyi’s work, including details like how each piece was constructed and the artistic process behind it
- An interactive art studio where users could start with various intial shapes and deform them in the same style as Tihanyi’s work, thus immersing oneself in the creative process
- An interactive art gallery much like idea 1, however, utilizing nature and an outdoor setting to create a zen-like feeling when learning about the artwork to appeal to a larger audience than just those who enjoy art museums
From here, we weighed the pros and cons of the various options and determined that we were most interested in pursuing option 2. We believe that this option is a good balance in terms of difficulty level and creative possibility. With this option, there are clear and distinct ways that we can expand upon the minimum completion requirements in the form of stretch goals if we reach that point, while still having a useful and engaging program if only meeting the minimum completion requirements.

Zoe: Zoe set up the website/git repository, added to the website, and worked on the pitch presentation.
Joanie: Joanie created and wrote snippet 1, worked on the website, and contributed to the pitch presentation.
Emi: Emi added to the website, created and worked on the pitch presentation, and looked into soft body physics resources.
Madrona: Madrona added to the website and worked on the pitch presentation.
All team members brainstormed ideas and help outline goals / visions they had for the project.

- Website has about page and posts for a project summary and snippet 1, as well as skeleton for future snippet posts
- Project proposal presentation has been completed
- Initial brainstorm has concluded and project vision solidified
- Research / education into soft body physics has begun
